Football Session 3 – Short and long passing

Advantage – A strength of mine is short passing and I am good at short passes because I have a good consistency in getting the ball to my chosen target, or just where I am aiming. I have a good body posture when I’m making a short pass, and I am good at approaching the ball at a very tight angle. Most people will keep their back upright when making the pass because you want to keep your balance and not fall over when passing. I am also good at positioning my supporting foot/leg alongside my passing foot because it will make my pass more accurate and consistent. Another skill of mine is long passing and which is one of my more suited techniques that are good for me because I am good at switching the play over to the other side of the pitch to create more options for my teammates. Long passing is also good because it can catch the opposition off guard, because generally everyone pushes over to the side of the pitch that the which the ball is on.

Disadvantage – sometimes long passing can be very pointless in some situations for example when your tea is trying to keep possession, because you are probably going to loose possession. Also If you are trying to do a long pass when the person you are passing to is too far away it is not going to work, and your going to loose possession of the ball and the opposition will take the ball and counter on your mistake.
